Bible Study Tips by Gauthier Jierette Genetia (ICCS)

(This Bible Study Tips was written by one of our incarcerated students, sharing their faith and study of God’s Word.)

When I first began participating in my Bible Courses I was completely overwhelmed and nervous. I had no idea how I was gonna do the work, let alone be able to understand what I was actually reading. Interestingly enough though what I had begun to realize is that it was a lot easier. The Lord has helped me, and in turn I’ve now become even more passionate about my studies! I love how rewarding it is to walk the way I’ve been walking on this path the Lord has set before me!

I have recently finished obtaining the credits required to receive my Bachelors and I am proud to say I am definitely planning on continuing to work towards my Masters Degree now. I for the first real times in my life am proud of who I am and have become!

I can confidently say I truly believe that my purpose in life is to continue in the Ministry and help others find their way back to the Lord. As well as help others, especially the troubled youth so they don’t have to learn the lessons the hard way I had to.

The best way I have learned to study though is by putting some quiet time aside everyday. Begin with my prayer and giving thanks for the knowledge I’m being given! The Spiritual food I’m about to ingest! Never do it if I’m not in the right space! Head Space, that’s when I just sit in prayer and do what I can to clear my mind. Always remember its a blessing that’s been bestowed upon us to be able to read the Bible!

I spent the first 29 years of my life doing nothing but getting high and messing around, getting in trouble, until I found my way to the Lord! My life has improved in every way since. My wife and I are stronger than we’ve ever been. She too is a Christian and believes we have the ability to help change the word in a positive way.

I hope that who ever reads this may have all the luck, good fortune and all the other unimaginable blessings that come along with it. Not to mention the Gift of everlasting life in the Lord’s heart! Thank you Lord Jesus, on heavenly father, Thank you for another great day in a perfect way!
