The Wrong Turn

(This devotional was written by one of our incarcerated students, sharing their faith and study of God’s Word.)

I was watching this movie one day that was called “the Wrong Turn.” These young people who were taking a trip, seem to be lost, and there were two roads to choose from. But…sadly they chose the wrong road and most ended up dead.

Jesus was telling the people about two roads. He said “Enter ye in at the straight gate: For wide is the gate, and broad is the way that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in there at: Because straight is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. Matt. 7:13-14

These days people lose following crowds, and love being apart of groups, just to say they’re connected to something. But…little do they know, they’re going the wrong way. That turn may look promising, but it’s not. Solomon said “There is a way, that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” Pro. 14:12

We as Christians, don’t have to worry about going the wrong way. Cause Jesus said “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” John 10:27 A true believer of the Lord, just won’t follow anybody. I made up my mind that I am going to follow the Lord. Do you know that Christian means “Christ like” cause we are followers of Christ, so we are called “Christians.” Acts 11:26 This was after Jesus died and the disciples started a church in Antioch.

Each day that we get up in the morning it’s a road we must take. And It’s called “Right or Wrong.” Our decisions will lead us to our finally place of rest and it’s beyond the grave. It may seem hard to go against the grain. But there is a reward, for those who take a stand.
