Faith Rekindled: A Journey Through Failure into Purpose

(This testimonial was written by one of our incarcerated students, sharing their faith and study of God’s Word.)

I turned my life to Christ in November 2006 while I was incarcerated the first time. Since that time, I have gotten out and come back on petty violations three times and am now sitting here until discharge of my twenty-year sentence.

I was angry when I came back this time. I did not bring my Bible with me, and it took a year after I was in here to even request one, longer for me to go to the chapel.

I spent five months sitting in my room not doing anything, not going to the chow hall, and I lost 70 lbs. I only spoke to God when I was begging to be released.

One day, I got a new roommate, and it turned out it was a Christian woman I had done time with the first time I was here.

We talked; I already had the Bible I had requested but was not opening it at all. She got me started back on the Bible studies I had done when I was here before, both in the chapel and through the mail.

Around that time, I came across the information for this course. I have always wanted to find a way to help women in Montana, since there are basically not enough good programs here to help us, so I enrolled.

These studies helped me to get in the Bible every day. I opted to do books of the Bible for this purpose. It makes me read it, makes me think, challenges my brain. I am very grateful I came across it and invested my time and money into it.
