Born Again Behind Bars: Living Abundantly, Loving Eternally

Abundant, Eternal Life Starts Now

When I began this journey, I was barely crawling—wounds still raw, being cleansed through the mighty power of God’s cleansing formula of the word (let alone milk!). Fully surrendered, I reached a point where life came down to this: “I’m either going to die here, or God will save me.”

Holding onto Christ for dear life, born again newbie Christian, I didn’t know what I didn’t know. I was vulnerable to false teachings and doctrines, and I yearned for anything that had to do with Jesus.

I was awash in Bible studies led by men from groups that seemed to disagree on what I thought should be obvious from Scripture. I fretted over how I’d ever afford a psychology degree (I was still willing to do almost anything to “seem” unbroken). Then someone handed me a brochure for ICCS.

After high school, I hadn’t received help to pay for secular college—but this time, I was blessed with tuition assistance. My life as a brother in  and of Christ has never been the same. The detailed study of God’s Word, the focus on context, and the professors’ encouragement have all strengthened my walk. Now, I’ve stepped into my calling to preach at different facilities, serve on the praise and worship team, and reflect the light of Christ in everything I do.

Even in here, I’m living the promise of John 10:10 — “I have come that they may have life, and have it abundantly.”
